KLCF Staff Visit Celtic FC Training Complex

KLCF Staff visit Celtic FC Training Complex.  This past month
Jess Ibrom (Community Development Officer) and Michael Sup
(Full-Time Coach) visited Celtic’s Training Complex whilst taking
in Celtic Women’s top of the table clash versus Spartans FC.
Celtic women have possibly the strongest women’s/girls set-ups
in Scotland with a number of players also playing for Scotland.
£8 million was spent on the construction of the training complex.
Indoor facilities include an indoor training hall, a fitness centre
with gym and fitness suite, physio and medical facilities, sauna
and steam room and hydrotherapy pool, Sports science/sports
development facility, changing facilities, classroom/education
facilities, football administration offices, media facilities, kit room,
laundry and Groundsman’s compound.  Outdoor facilities include three full-sized UEFA standard natural grass training and match pitches, with under soil heating to the main pitch, an artificial grass pitch and an additional goalkeeping training area.
Jess Ibrom said ‘ since 2004 we have visited a number professional set-ups not just on the playing side but also more importantly on the coach education side.  We have been lucky enough to visit the training grounds of Juventus FC, Torino,  Barcelona FC, Real Madrid, Sheffield United to name but a few.  We use the ideas of each of these clubs to benefit our players in their own long-term player development.  We have taken a number of ideas from sessions with these clubs and implemented into our programme.  Already we have a number of clubs lined up which we will be visiting in the coming months to observe there academy teams up to first team. ‘

KL Elite Girls Trials

At present KLCF has two Elite Girls squads, a mixed 12/13’s and a
mixed 14/15’s. All our girls train once a week on the new 3G surface
at Lynnsport and play regular fixtures against well respected clubs
such as West Ham Utd, Peterborough Utd, Norwich City F.C and
Lincoln City. These fixtures are played during school holidays and will
not conflict with school or club activities.
We are looking to expand both of the squads and are looking for
girls schools years  6-10 and age groups U11’s – U15’s to come in
for an open trial to look to join our squads and play in up and coming
fixtures. The trial will be held on MONDAY 28th JUNE,
5.00 – 7.00 PM at Lynnsport on the 3G surface. We would like to see as
many girls as possible try out, as this is a great opportunity for young girl footballers. We would also be happy to come and do training sessions either before or after the trial to gain links with any local clubs or schools.
We encourage all girls that are in our squads to continue playing for there local club and school teams, and see this as an opportunity for extra training and playing in high profile fixtures. The Elite Girls set-up has been running since 2004 and is a clear pathway into the King’s Lynn Women’s Team, who gained promotion from the Norfolk Women’s League this season! Currently there are 10 girls that have progressed through the scheme and play regularly for the Women’s Team.

If you have any questions or queries about the trials or the Elite Girls set-up please do not hesitate to contact;

National Champions!!!

THREE products of the Lynn Community Football programme returned to West Norfolk this week after becoming national football champions with their respective clubs. Kyle Nicholls, Joe Setchell and Alice Coyne, ex-graduates of the scheme, all enjoyed memorable campaigns for their clubs and US colleges  a year after leaving Lynn for pastures new on the football field.
Former Linnets striker Dominic Dwyer – a fourth success story from Lynn
Community Football - has also been earning his stars and stripes with
both Nicholls and Setchell in the USA. Lynn community football officer
Jess Ibrom said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for Kyle, Joe, Dominic
and Alice and everyone connected with the scheme is hugely proud
of them. To have the season they’ve had is testament to the great work
ethic and attitude they displayed when they where part of the scheme here.
All four provide great role models for all the young aspiring players we have
progressing through the advanced football programme. Kyle and Joe came
along to one of our advanced sessions to meet the young players and tell
them about life in the US. Kyle has also been training with our U15s and 16s
in preparation for his up-and-coming season at Tyler University.”

“Alice is on a two-week work experience placement with the scheme and has been training with her old team-mates, as well as visiting a number of local schools within the area. There is no reason why all four can’t go on and make a career out of the game now and they provide another example of how successful our development programme is.”
Joe, Kyle and Dwyer flew out to America last year to take up soccer scholarships at Tyler University in Texas. In their first season as college freshmen, all three performed superbly to complete a perfect season with 21 wins in 21 games. This culminated in them winning the national title in New York, overcoming Georgia Perimeter College on penalties, with both Kyle and Dom on target during the decisive penalty shoot-out. This is the first season in the universities history that the soccer programme had won the national title. Nicholls said: “My first year in America has been more than I could of ever of hoped for and to win the nationals in my first season was an amazing experience. “A lot of this is down to the hard work Paul Hunt and Jess Ibrom have put into me from the age of ten. “I enjoyed my time with the community football scheme and I hope to continue developing as a footballer in America.”
After signing for Chelsea Ladies U19s, Coyne matched the achievement of the boy’s by winning the English national title. She was an ever-present in the starting line-up, scoring in the 6-1 home league win over Arsenal U19s. Since then, Alice and her Chelsea team won both the regional league and cup, defeating Birmingham U19’s. In the national final against Colchester U19s at Doncaster, Coyne helped Chelsea to a penalty victory after the game was locked at 4-4 after extra-time.

Dream come true for KLFC Women’s Captain Chloe Burch & KLFC Women gain back to back Promotions!

LYNN soccer starlet Chloe Burch has achieved the American
dream – by earning a four-year football scholarship in the
United States. It completes a terrific season for Chloe who has
captained King's Lynn FC Ladies team to back-to-back promotions.
Chloe, 18, will be flying out this summer to take up a scholarship at
Tyler University in Texas. She will be following in the footsteps of
Ex KLCF Advanced players and KLCF coaches Tom McCarthy,
Dom Dwyer, Joe Setchell and Kyle Nicholls.
She is the first female player to gain a scholarship to play football in
the US from the KLCF scheme since its birth in 2002.

Chloe, who also played football for Clenchwarton between 2004 and 2008,
has been ever-present at the heart of the defence for the KLFC women's
team since its formation in 2007 and been part of the KLCF advanced girls programme since November 2004 – and part of the team's two back-to-back promotions to the Eastern Regional League Division One this
season and the county league cup success last season.
Jess Ibrom (KLFC Women's Head Coach & KLCF Community Development Officer) said: "Chloe has been one of the most committed players in the girls programme since it was first piloted in 2004.
"Her dedication to football has been outstanding as has her attitude
in training and games. She has started every women's game since 2007 and has been instrumental in the success of the team always showing a superb example to her fellow team mates. I had no hesitation in naming
her captain this season at the age of 18 as she has all the key leadership qualities.
"Certainly America will provide a much stiffer test for Chloe but one she is looking forward to immensely."
Jess continued: "Since 2004 it has always been the scheme's aim to
progress one girl player from the system to the United States to play
full-time on the girls' side. Already we have seen Alice Coyne join
Chelsea on a two-year scholarship and now with Chloe joining Tyler
University the programme shows we can develop and progress players to
playing at the highest level."
Chloe said: "I have learned a lot throughout my years being involved
with the KLCF Advanced programme and the support and guidance given
by the coaches is the reason I have had the opportunity to develop an
education in football in the States.
"It provides players with great openings and offers many opportunities
to progress into professional football clubs.
"I have enjoyed my time with KLCF Advanced immensely in both the
programme and developing the women's side who have done well to
get promoted two seasons consecutively. Many thanks go out to Jess
Ibrom and all other community coaches who have done their utmost to
put me in the position I am at today.

The KLFC Women's team have been promoted for the second consecutive season. Promotion was assured last Sunday when the team defeated Bungay Town Ladies. The women finished second in the Norfolk Womens & Girls League Division 1 behind champions Thorpe United Ladies. The team played 18 games, winning 14 and scoring 75 goals and conceding 33. The women will now be playing in the Eastern Region Division
North from next season subject to confirmation from the league. They can now look forward to facing the likes of Cambridge Rangers, Huntingdon Town and Histon.
The squad, which is mostly made up of girls who have progressed through the KLCF advanced girls programme went on an unbeaten run of ten straight league wins from early November to mid April, scoring 46 goals and conceding just 12. As well as this they progressed through to the Norfolk and Suffolk Quarter Finals going down to eventual winners Norwich City Ladies first team.
Top goal scorer was Tiff Forshaw with 38 goals in all competitions. She
was followed by 16-year-old Chloe Riches with 22 goals in her debut in senior women's football this season.
The KLFC Women's squad for the 2009/10 season was: Selina Raines, Candy Clark, Chloe Burch (captain), Mim Royle, Hazel McLeish, Holly Stocker, Frankie Walder, Shanice Burch, Laura Shimmon, Victoria Riddiford, Rebecca Russell, Chloe Riches, Tiff Forshaw, Charlene Hennells, Alice Guy, Faye Stocker, Nikki Jay.
The team have a friendly fixture versus Norwich City FC Reserves at Plantation Park on Sunday, May 16, in preparation for the county league cup finals day on May 23. They will be looking to make a successful defence of the cup, having won it last season.
Jess Ibrom said: "Everyone has played their part in commitment to games and training and the girls can take great pride in their achievements. We have a working model in place to progress the women's team up the league ladder year-on-year. We are already one year ahead of ourselves in terms of where we would like to be.
"We have a number of the younger players coming through the advanced girls program who will only strengthen the squad next season and beyond. The girls can now look forward to playing at even better venues against higher quality opposition."

Community Football Scheme Goes Independent

On January 9th 2010 it was agreed with the then newly appointed director of football for Lynn FC, that coaching staff from the Community Football Scheme would manage and coach any reserve and/or youth teams, it was agreed that these teams would be affiliated to Lynn FC, for the coming season (2010/2011). This was a verbal agreement between the Director of Football for Lynn FC and 2 senior coaching staff and the secretary of the Kings Lynn Community football scheme.
A copy of a proposal that had already been submitted to the council and which we now know became part of the councils criteria to which bidders needed to embrace and integrate into their structure. The proposal was handed to the director of football by the community scheme secretary.
A further meeting between the director of football and the 2 senior coaches from the community football scheme took place on the 10th of January. At this meeting the details were verbally finalized and the director of football for Lynn FC showed paperwork which had been reworked so that the Community Football was named in the bid and within the structure of Lynn FC.
On the 14th of January there was an article in the Eastern Daily Press prompted by Lynn FC which named Kings Lynn Community Football coaches as running the reserves and youth team for Lynn FC, this prompted calls from parents and players regarding this issue so the Community Football Scheme sent out a letter to 150 parents/players informing them of the agreement with Lynn FC.
Within the bid to the council Kings Lynn Community football (also known as Football in the Community) was named in print, with the Schemes UEFA B coaches also being named as reserve, youth and U16 coaches, this was set out as a key component of the new regimes set up. This is verified as the bid has now been viewed using the freedom of information act.
During the period between the demise of the old regime and the granting of the new lease, the scheme was awarded a short term lease by the council, to care take and make use of the pitch and facilities by hosting advanced fixtures, trials and senior women’s games. During this period the scheme took responsibility for the running costs and pitch maintenance. All players and public liability insurances were put in place and financed by the scheme.
We wish to thank the council for their professionalism and help during this time to make this possible.
Shortly after the lease was secured by Lynn FC, the scheme head coach was told by the senior members of Lynn FC that they had decided to not follow the structure which they had already been agreed and submitted in their now successful bid to the council. It was then stated that they did not want the schemes coaches involved in the management and coaching of these teams, their reason being that there was an affiliation issue, but it had been previously agreed with the director of football that the new teams would be affiliated to Lynn FC.
As a result of this Kings Lynn Community football has no alternative and will now run independently of Lynn FC, Kings Lynn Community Football will now look to develop its already established strong links with all senior football clubs within the area.
The scheme has always been self sustaining through its own activities, sponsorship and grants, so this development will have no effect on the day to day running of the scheme.
