The game will be the biggest in Kings Lynn's history since the women's team was formed in august 2007. With Norwich playing three leagues above and two off the national division it will be a huge test for the young linnets. The KLFC Women's team is presently vying for promotion in the top three of the Norfolk County League Division 1. Jess Ibrom (Women's Head Coach) said ' we have worked tremendously hard since the women's team was formed in 2007 to progress the set-up year on year. We have a solid structure in place with the younger girls from the KLCF Advanced girls program pushing through the system. Of the present squad seven players have progressed through since 2004. The squad is made up of six 16 year olds with the rest of the squad aging from 17-21. The game itself will be huge for everyone connected with the club as we are massive underdogs. Norwich are the successful working model that we strive to follow and the game itself should be a great occasion for everyone. We will certainly be going all out for the win! ' The game will kick off at 1.45pm with the main players entrance turnstile open from midday. Entry is £2 for adults with U16's entering for FREE. All proceeds from the game will go back into the King's Lynn Community Football Scheme to further develop it. There will be a half-time skills session on the pitch from some of the younger advanced teams and Daves and Pats Snacks van will also be in attendance. All our girls train once a week on the new 3G surface at Lynnsport and play regular fixtures against well respected clubs such as West Ham Utd, Peterborough Utd, Norwich City F.C and Lincoln City. These fixtures are played during school holidays and will not conflict with school or club activities. We are looking to expand both of the squads and are looking for any girls schools years 6-10 and age groups U11’s – U15’s to come in for an open trial to look to join our squads and play in up and coming fixtures. The trial will be held on FRIDAY 12TH FEBRUARY, 4.30 – 6.00PM at Lynnsport on the 3G surface. We would like to see as many girls as possible try out, as this is a great opportunity for young girl footballers. We would also be happy to come and do training session either before or after the trial to gain links with any local clubs or schools. We encourage all girls that are in our squads to continue playing for there local club and school teams, and see this as an opportunity for extra training and playing in high profile fixtures. The Advanced Girls set-up has been running since 2004 and is a clear pathway into the King’s Lynn Women’s Team, who are currently Norfolk Women’s League Cup Winners 2009 and are top of the table in the Women’s Norfolk Division 1 league. Currently there are 10 girls that have progressed through the scheme and play regularly for the Women’s Team. We have also had Alice Coyne aged 16 (pictured right) who has been with the set-up since she was 10 who has progressed into gaining a 2 year scholarship at Chelsea F.C, and is a regular starter for Chelsea Women’s U19’s. Michael Sup and Jamie Buhlemann, both full-time staff on the Linnets’ scheme, have been successful in obtaining contracts to coach with recognised companies in the USA. Both will work mainly throughout the north-eastern side of America, near cities such as New York and Boston and their contracts will last up to two months. Full-time coaches Joe Setchell, Kyle Nicholls and Dominic Dwyer, all established players at Lynn FC, will be taking up football scholarships at Tyler University, Texas. They will also be coaching in the local community on behalf of the university. Community development officer Jess Ibrom said: “This will be a very rewarding experience for all of the coaches, not only work but also play in a country that continues to develop yearly soccer-wise. “Last year the scheme lost Mark Heath-Preston who is now playing semi-professionally for the Minnesota Thunder and is doing very well. “The coaches have worked hard over the past year to further themselves in gaining more recognised coaching qualifications, as well as gaining more experience coaching within the scheme.” Ibrom added: “As a community football scheme, we actively encourage new coaches to have the opportunity of coaching in the USA. “On behalf of everyone connected with the scheme we wish them the best of luck.”
Friday 12th June 2009 KLFC Womens' Alice Coyne Signs for Chelsea!!! LYNN teenager Alice Coyne, a product of the successful Lynn Community Football scheme, has signed a two-year apprenticeship with Premiership giants Chelsea. Coyne (16) is one of just 16 girls, from as far afield as Australia, to be selected after successfully coming through a trial. A delighted Coyne said: "I couldn't believe it when I received an e-mail from Chelsea, I had to check it three or four times to make sure it was true." Coyne, who will start pre-season training with the Blues in August, will study for a B-Tech in sport at a local college in Surrey. She will train daily and play fixtures for Chelsea Ladies U19s, against other clubs such as Arsenal, Charlton, Fulham and Millwall. The youngster will train at Chelsea's Cobham training base - just yards away from Premiership stars Nicolas Anelka, John Terry and Frank Lampard. "I would love to eventually sign for the club on a permanent basis and go on to play for England Ladies,"said Coyne, who also has designs on doing a two-year scholarship in the United States of America. Community development officer Jess Ibrom said: "Alice is a very talented footballer and has been one of the most committed players I have ever had the pleasure of working with. "She has been part of the Lynn Community Football scheme since the age of ten, working her way up from the Hunstanton PDC, progressing from the KLCF Advanced Girls set-up and onto the KLFC Women's team this past season." Ibrom added: "Her dedication to football has been outstanding, as well as her concentration, attitude and work ethic. This is a fantastic opportunity for Alice and there's no reason why she can't go on and make her mark in the game. "Alice is an example to any girls within the set-up that they too can progress onto playing at the highest level. She will be a great loss to the KLFC Women's team but we wish her every success for the future." Monday 1st June 2009 King’s Lynn Community Football Re-Launches Website KLCF is pleased to announce the launch of its newly developed website. Through the site, children parents, teachers and local bodies will be able to find out information about the scheme as well as its latest news. Full time Coach Michael Sup who re-developed and designed the new look website said: “The original website was launched in 2006 and for the last two years it has gone without being updated. We decided to completely re-build the website and have given it a much more professional look and user-friendly approach. The site will be a great tool for anyone to find out about how they can get involved within the programme and the progression routes we are able to offer”.
