Scheme gets Football Foundation Grant!!!
Lynn Football Club's Community Football scheme has been awarded a grant of £83,000 from the Football Foundation to assist with coach and player development in the West Norfolk area over the next five years.
The grant will enable a development officer and part time administrator to be appointed and will result in increased provision of football opportunities.
Funded by the borough council, consultant Tim Wall put the Football Foundation bid together for the scheme and club officials are still celebrating the news.
Scheme administrator Keith Rudd said: "The scheme needed a financial boost to set it on a firm footing and allow it to grow.
"There is so much potential to engage with young people and nurture them through quality coaching.
"The Football Foundation grant will enable us to extend our provision, catering for larger numbers, developing more coaches and building up future talent for the football club at the same time."
John Fincham, Lynn FC partnership representative, was quick to point out the need for additional funds
Fincham said: "£83,000 is a marvellous award but a condition of the grant is that we match the Football Foundation's money pound for pound.
"Ideally a substantial sponsor for the scheme would be the answer."
In the recent past the scheme has received welcome sponsorship from local business.
There is an ongoing need for such support and with the increased activity in the community of Lynn and West Norfolk it is hoped that a major sponsor will join the project.
Meanwhile, the borough council's Improving Neighbourhoods programme has seen the benefits of the scheme and has come forward with a £20,000 contribution to support football development work in Fairstead, Gaywood, North Lynn, South Lynn and St Margaret's wards.
A steering committee from Lynn FC, the borough council, KES and the College of West Anglia has guided the scheme over recent years and since its relocation to the Football Club the scheme has been growing with six full time coaches now delivering community coaching all over the borough.
Paul Thorogood, chief executive of the Football Foundation, said: "This funding success is thanks to the hard work of the council and local partners, as well as the Norfolk County FA and will boost sporting opportunities for the local community.
"It is thanks to the investment by the Premier League, the FA and the Government that the Football Foundation exists to support important projects such as this one."
Further details about the scheme and its work can be gained from Jess Ibrom on 01553 819999.
Any potential sponsor for the scheme should contact John Fincham on 01553 671877.

Advanced Squads October half-term fixtures
In October half-term the Kings Lynn FC Advanced Squads took part in a number of high profile fixtures across the East Anglia Region.
First up was the U9’s-U15’s Boys who took on teams from Luton Town Football Club. The Kings Lynn boys found the championship club tough opposition from the outset. The u9’s and U10’s lost in entertaining games 6-2 and 5-3 respectively. The U11’s went down 6-1 although the score line flattered the opposition slightly. The u12’s and U13’s and U15’s lost respectively in there first outings of the season. Game of the day was the u14’s Squad who raced into a 2nil lead. As the game wore on Luton made a number of changes and applied a lot of pressure eventually running out 4-3 winners.
Tuesday saw the Advanced U12’s and U13’s girls travel to Peterborough to take on Peterborough United Girls. The U12’s drew 3-3 with the U13’s coming from 2nil down to lead 3-2 with little of the game left. Peterborough rallied however and won with two late goals to make the final score line 4-3.

Jess Ibrom Community Development Officer said ‘all the squads performed superbly well in there first fixtures of the season. American University Coach visits King’s Lynn Community Football
In December of last year the KLCF Advanced U14’s and U16’s Girls Squads participated in an advanced coaching session under the watchful eye of a Head coach from the United States. Kieran Heblich who oversees’s a Women’s University Program in Memphis, Tennessee in the USA was invited to watch a session which was delivered by Paul Hunt UEFA B football coach. Jess Ibrom explains. “Kieran was recruiting players in Europe for the up and coming season and was in the area so we set up an advanced session for him to get an idea on what level the girls where at in the advanced squads. It’s another great link for the scheme and we hope that in the future those girls who show the necessary football ability and who are strong academically have the opportunity of playing in the USA. Kieran has already promised to come back in July but this time we hope to showcase all of the girl’s squads from U11’s to U16’s.”
