Adidas
King’s Lynn FC Community Football has been a member of the Adidas UK grassroots team for the past 5 years.
Team Football was a free coaching initiative for Year 5 and Year 6 introduced in 2001.
Over 3 years Football in the Community gave 2 free coaching sessions each year in, upwards of, 60 Primary Schools. Schools were also given lesson plans linking science and maths to football.
In the July of each year a Fair Play Football Festival was held at Lynn sport. A marvelous festival was enjoyed by over 1000 boys and girls each year.
In 2005 the Community Football team gave free coaching sessions in clubs linked to the Adidas Road show where the players could try football boots to test their skills.
This year the Road show of 2 branded vehicles with inflatable areas visited the Dersingham 5 a side Tournament in West Norfolk so players could test their skills with a football.
2006 has been World Cup year and Adidas organised a tournament for 16 countries. Community Football organised a preliminary round at Leicester for 16 under 14’s and 16 under 16’s. The Tournament linked 1 v 1, 2 v 2, 5 v 5 games.
Such was the success of Leicester that 6 Community Coaches, Keith Rudd, Paul Hunt, Dan Hammond, Daniel Buhlemann, Jason Coe and Elliott Kempton were picked to officiate at the National Finals at Regents Park.
Four teams from these National Finals then spent 6 days in Berlin at a Final where the 16 countries met to play in a purpose built village. A 10,000 seater stadium was the centrepiece. Rothwell Aztecs represented our area and reached the quarter finals.
Adidas has been a valuable ally for the Community Football Programme, providing the scheme and coaches with boots, footballs, cones and bibs. As well as enhancing coaching for young players in the West Norfolk area.
